The Y is the areas premiere training program offerings American Red Cross classes and certifications for Lifeguard training and re-certification, babysitter training, and community CPR/First Aid training. Successful course completion involves both written and practical examinations.
Adult & Pediatric First Aid, CPR, AED class
First Aid, CPR, AED class is a great way for any member of our community (age 15+) to learn how to save a life and react appropriately to emergencies. This course is a blended learning format with some advanced classwork required. Link to advance classwork can be found below.

Lifeguard Training
American Red Cross Lifeguard classes are for adults or young adults age 15 and over. Prerequisites for the class apply and include swimming 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing, freestyle or a combination of both, treading water for two minutes without hands, and completing a timed event within 100 seconds to include starting in the water, swimming 20 yards without goggles, completing surface dive, and more.
Full programs = All training including classroom provided through course.
Blended learning = Seven hours of online coursework completed in advance of class. Record of successful completion of online portion should be brought to first day of class.

Lifeguard recertification & review
Classes are periodically scheduled for Lifeguard re-certification. A currently valid lifeguard certificate or a certificate that expired within 30 days of the scheduled class is required when enrolling in this program.
Full programs = All training including classroom provided through course.
Blended learning = Online coursework required to be completed in advance of first day of class. You will receive a record verifying your successful completion of the online portion and this should be brought to the first day of class.
Babysitter Training and Pediatric First Aid/CPR
Babysitter Training and Pediatric First Aid/CPR class that provides youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills, learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children behave and learn about basic child care . The course also includes first aid and pediatric CPR. Recommended age for this course is 11-15 years old.
*Training is provided in a blended format, requiring at home coursework need to be completed by the first day of class.
Lifeguard Instructor Training
Age 17+ | The Y is certified to train instructor candidates to teach the Red Cross Lifeguarding, Shallow Water Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers, Administering Emergency Oxygen and Bloodborne Pathogens Training: Instructor candidates will also become familiar with Junior Lifeguarding, Lifeguard Management, Safety Training for Swim Coaches and Basic Water Rescue.

Lifeguard Instructor Crossover/Re-Entry
Former American Red Cross lifeguarding instructors whose certifications expired no more than 2 years before the beginning of the Instructor Crossover/Re-Entry Bridge course and current lifeguarding instructors from other organizations (see list below) are eligible to participate in the Lifeguarding Instructor Crossover/Re-Entry Bridge course. Instructors whose authorizations were suspended or withdrawn for any reason are not eligible to participate in the Lifeguarding Instructor Crossover/Re-Entry Bridge course. Attendance and successful completion of a crossover/re-entry bridge course will result in American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor certification. Students will be sent
